I’ve been writing about travel in one form or another since the early 1990s. I started as an editor but soon went on the road. I’ve written for many publications, but I’ve been writing guides for Lonely Planet since 1996. In 2002 I made the move into radio, with a regular travel slot on the drive-time Right Hook programme on Newstalk 106-108 (www.newstalk.ie), every Tuesday evening from 6.20-7pm. That led to my own show, which has nothing to do with travel, also on Newstalk: Davenport After Dark, every Thursday night from 10pm. I did some TV work too – I was the travel expert on RTE’s daytime show Seoige and also did two seasons on No Frontiers, RTE’s specialist travel programme.
